This is a fabulous piece of film memorabilia for a movie buff or someone in the film industry!
The note written in the top right corner of the cover reads as follows:
“To, Susannah with love from #288 bottom left”

Obviously I quickly turned to page 288, but it seems Susannah had beaten me to it and had already snipped out the picture of her beloved “film star” beau. The intrigue was killing me, but luckily I was able to track him down through the index. A quick google search of the name lead me to a rather skint IMDB page, but an IMDB none the less- a few made for tv movies in the 1940s, but unfortunately no pics.

This No.70 September 1945 issue obviously has quite a bit of wear and its fair share of dog ears, but these books were only designed to last a few months and new updated versions would replace them regularly. But I think the worn look is what I love most about this book- I can just picture some ruthless Hollywood types puffing on cigars while thumbing through the book deciding who’s going to get their next big break!
I haven’t paged through the book extensively, but I’m very sure many of the big names from that time will be found within those pages!
The going rate for these books seems to be around R2000 and up!
